Region Reps Region Meetings

All State Selection Process: One of the most difficult tasks undertaken every season is the selection of the players that will receive post season honors at the state level. This process begins with high school coach understanding their role in the process. There is a list of coaching responsibilities listed below. Once the coach has fulfilled their obligations and properly submitted their player for consideration, the Region Representative will host a post-season meeting, open to all coaches in that region. The purpose of this meeting is to evaluate and select the players that will receive Regional recognition. From that list, the top players in each class are then chosen to be presented at the All State selection meeting. Be aware that any player to considered for All State honors there must be a video tape provided to your region representative. No video, no All State recognition. The video can be produced by the coach, but this responsibility is commonly delegated to the player and their families.

Individuals who earn All Region or All State honors will receive a certificate from MIVCA, signed by the Region Rep and their own coach. Certificates are mailed by the Region Reps to the area coaches, for distribution to the players. First Team recipients in all classes are invited to the All Star Classic. A luncheon and guest speaker are part of the festivities, and then they are formally introduced and recognized between the semi-final and final matches of the All State Classic. Each All State first team player will receive a commemorative plaque from the MIVCA Board.

Anyone who has questions regarding the All State selection process, can contact Angie Del Morone, who is a member of the MIVCA Executive Board, and the All State chair.
Coach’s Responsibility
Download Guidelines: [Word Format]        [Adobe Format]
  1. Make sure you meet all deadlines for paperwork.
  2. If you have any potential “impact” players on your team send their name, school, and tourney schedule to Angie Del Morone by September 1.
  3. Contact your Region Representative if you are a new coach. Send your representative a season schedule as soon as possible.
  4. Send All – State forms filled out clearly, completely and accurately to your Region Representative by the Monday before Districts. If this is not done, your player cannot go on to All - State consideration.
  5. Communicate throughout the season with your Region Representative. It will help you stay informed.
  6. Find out when and where the Region meeting is going to be held. Make a point to be there, contribute information and comparisons of players in your region so the best players may be represented at the Region level.
  7. Submit a 2 – 4 minute video to the Region Representative if your player is going on for All – State consideration.

Video/DVD Guidelines

  1. The video should be 2-4 minutes in length with no commentary.
  2. Clearly mark on the video : Player Name and Number School and Region
  3. Highlight player in game situations. Committee members need to see an All – State nominee’s offensive and defensive abilities, transition, coverage, etc during play, not in isolation.
  4. Video should be clear segments of the player being nominated so the committee members can easily distinguish her from others in action.
  5. Each player nominated should be on a separate tape or DVD.
  6. Player video is to be submitted to your Region Representative before the All – State meeting so the representative may review it.
